About the Designer
Gentle Earth Studio was founded by Brandon Gentle, a builder driven by a lifelong respect for materials and the quiet discipline of making things by hand.
Long before the first bench was woven, Brandon was studying structure — how loads travel, how joints carry force, how proportion creates balance. With a background in engineering and years of hands-on craftsmanship, he approaches furniture not as decoration, but as functional architecture scaled to the human body.
The studio’s Danish cord benches reflect that philosophy. Each frame begins as rough hardwood, shaped and joined with intention. The woven seat is tensioned strand by strand — a process that rewards patience and punishes shortcuts. Nothing is automated. Nothing is rushed.
Beyond the studio, Brandon is also building a 22-foot wooden sailboat by hand — a parallel pursuit that mirrors the same values found in his furniture: structural integrity, material honesty, and endurance over time. Both projects are rooted in the belief that meaningful objects are not assembled quickly; they are constructed deliberately.
Gentle Earth Studio produces work in limited quantities. Every piece that leaves the shop has been shaped, assembled, and woven by Brandon himself.
Built in North Carolina.
